Full-day excursion combining a visit to Chinese Hat Islet, an impressive volcanic cone with unique landscapes, with time for snorkeling and enjoying crystal-clear beaches. This tour offers a complete experience of geological exploration, wildlife observation, and water activities in one of the most attractive natural environments in the Galápagos.
Departure time: 7:00 AM
Approximate return time: 5:30 PM
The experience begins in Puerto Ayora with a land transfer to the Itabaca Channel, followed by an approximately 1 hour and 45-minute navigation to Chinese Hat Islet.
Chinese Hat gets its name from the distinctive shape of its summit, which resembles a traditional Chinese hat. This small volcanic cone, located southeast of Santiago Island, stands out for its lava formations, volcanic tubes, and solidified flows that reveal the geological history of the region.
During the visit, guests may observe salt-tolerant coastal vegetation such as palo santo, as well as lava lizards, marine iguanas, Sally Lightfoot crabs, and various coastal bird species.
Afterward, there is time for snorkeling and water activities in its crystal-clear waters, considered one of the best areas for marine wildlife observation. It is common to spot sea lions, penguins, white-tip reef sharks, tropical fish, and other species that inhabit this underwater ecosystem.
After completing the activities, guests return to Puerto Ayora.
